Turning the Standards Into Skill

Most coaches finish training and quickly feel the gap between learning the competencies and applying them in real coaching conversations. The credentialing process can also feel confusing and more technical than expected.

That’s where coach education comes in. My job is to make it clear. We turn the ICF Core Competencies into something you can actually use. You get direct feedback, practical guidance, and a simple plan you can follow with confidence.

Choose Your Path

You can work with me in a group or one-on-one. Both options meet the ICF mentor coaching requirement, but the work goes beyond checking a box. The focus is on strengthening how you think, listen, and respond so your coaching becomes more grounded, skillful, and credible in real sessions.

FAQs

Ten hours of mentor coaching is an ICF requirement for credentialing, but many coaches also choose this work to strengthen their coaching skills and to ensure they are coaching in alignment with ICF standards for professional coaching.

There is not a great deal of preparation required. Come with a coaching mindset, a willingness to learn, and an openness to hearing feedback as if you are encountering the work again for the first time.

The group sessions focus on shared learning, discussion, and competency-based development alongside other coaches. The one-to-one mentor coaching hours are more individualized and are designed to provide recording review, personalized feedback, and support based on what each coach most needs.

During mentor coaching, we review the ICF Core Competencies and the ICF Code of Ethics and explore how they sound and show up in real coaching conversations. In group sessions, we listen to recorded coaching together and debrief it based on the focus of each session, with each week centered on a specific competency. The learning is strengthened through shared stories, discussion, and best practices that help coaches apply the work more skillfully.

ICF requires 10 hours of mentor coaching completed over a minimum of three months. At least three hours must be one-to-one, and the remaining seven hours may be completed in a group or individual format.

ICF mentor coaching is required for some coaches pursuing an ACC, PCC, or MCC credential, depending on their application path, and it is required for ACC renewal. It is also a valuable option for coaches who want to strengthen their skills and coach in closer alignment with ICF standards.
